What You Sow – Royals Lesson!

Ciao Royals! Sorry that today’s lesson is late, I just got back into school, and I was a little busy unpacking, organizing, getting used to classes and such.. But I am back now with your Royals post! Today’s post is about the importance of sowing good seeds in your life to reap good rewards. (Before I get any further in explaining, this post was inspired by THIS POST by one of my favorite sites, DearNextGen. It is definitely worth your time to read their post.)

So what do I mean by “sowing good seeds in your life to reap good rewards?” What I mean is what you allow into your life and what you surround yourself with, as well as the thoughts you have, impact your life very much.

Say for example your life is a cake. To make a cake, you put in lots of ingredients, all of them very different but all have one similarity- in this mixture they are edible once combined and cooked. They all come together to form a yummy cake. And your life is not much different from this.

In life, you have many “ingredients” that combine to form your life. You have school life/work life, home life, friendships, maybe a romantic relationship, hobbies, societal influences…… All these are ingredients to make your life's “cake”. Some of these you can’t control (like societal influences). But you can control the others, and you can even control how you choose to be affected by things like societal influences.

So, what can you do to make sure that your life’s “cake” is as happy and delicious as possible?

1.       Surround yourself with positivity/things you love. Now, it will be inevitable that you might have to put up with things that don’t make you happy, like school or work. But that just means you need to change your attitude about these things. Find a way to make yourself happy or excited for these things. Find something to look forward to. If school makes you unhappy, find out why. Is it because you don’t understand? Look for a tutor or ask your professor/teacher for more help. Is it because you have a lot of work? Split the workload into manageable parts. There are always solutions to the things you might be unhappy with.

2.       Change the way you think. This is WAY easier said than done. But if you work towards it slowly, you can change your mind and the way it works. For example, this year my friends and I decided we wanted to change how we thought about ourselves. So every time we make a self-deprecating joke or insult ourselves, we have to write down something positive about ourselves and put it in the self-love bag. In this way we can slowly change how we think about ourselves to be more positive.

3.       Do what makes you happy. If you have a hobby that makes you happy, and someone says it’s “childish” or “stupid” don’t listen! Your hobbies are perfectly fine and you can have whatever hobbies you want! If you want to wear a certain style but you’re worried what people think, don’t worry! Just wear the style you’re most comfortable in!

The point of all this is to say that the things you let into your life really affect how your life becomes. Make sure the things coming into your life are good for you.
