There’s a Whole World Outside of Your Bubble – Royals Lesson!

Ciao lovelies! Today, let’s talk about new experiences, (which I know, we’ve talked about before), but this time I want to add a new personal experience as a lesson on why you should break out of your bubble. 

So recently I found out that one of the clubs on campus, that I am a part of an am very interested in, needed a “Media Outreach Manager” which meant that they needed someone to run their social media pages and respond to comments, etc. Basically, they needed someone to get their name out there, help get new members and fundraising.

At first when I saw the opportunity to put my name on the ballot, I was doubtful. I told myself that I didn’t have the capacity, that my social anxiety was too bad, I told myself I didn’t have enough time and that I couldn’t handle it.

But then I thought about it critically. For one, I did have enough time. For two, I had the necessary skills. For three, why not put my name on the ballot? What did I have to lose? Nothing really. It wouldn’t’ hurt me in any way to put my name on the ballot and see if I got the position.

So I did.

Then the day came of the meeting, and I was so nervous. I had to give a short statement to the club members on why I might be a good fit for the position. I was very scared as public speaking is not my strong suit, but I still made myself go and give my statement.

And surprisingly, I got the position! And you know what? The more time I spent around the other club officers and club members, the less and less nervous I felt, and I felt calmer and had a great time.

And so, once again, I learned the important lesson of how crucial it is to break free of your box every so often.

My biggest point in sharing this story is to stress how important it is to occasionally break out of your box, and seize opportunity when it arises. You never know what amazing opportunities, new friends, and fun experiences are just beyond your bubble.
