LESS THAN $1 Toy Photography HACK! - DIY Greenscreen Effects!

Ciao lovelies! Today I wanted to share with you a new tip for doll photography that I have learned. This tip will allow you to take your doll photos to the next level!

So recently I learned about Snapstar dolls! (I plan to review one of these dolls soon!) And a big feature with Snapstar dolls is that they come with a green-screen, and have a corresponding app that lets you use it!

So, what if you don’t have a Snapstar doll yet? No worries! You can still make your own working green-screen at home and make the coolest doll photos ever!

All you need to make your own green-screen is a green poster-board, and the free Snapstar app! Of course there are other green-screen photography apps but I prefer Snapstar’s!

We found a green poster board at WalMart for 77 cents. So the whole hack is less than $1!

To make your green-screen, I simply folded the green poster-board in half, making sure it was still tall enough for a doll to stand in front of. You could do a more complicated fold, but in half works just as well.

Now, make sure there’s something holding up the back of your poster-board. I put a heavy vase behind mine.

Now all you need to do is put a doll on your green-screen and use the app!

The app may seem confusing at first but it’s very simple. First, open the app and tap on where it says “Photo-Studio.”

It will bring you a screen which asks you to select which doll you’re photographing.

If you’re not using one of their dolls, simply chose the one that most closely matches the skin tone of your doll. If you’re using a doll like Monster High or Off the Hook where they have unnatural skin tones like green and purple and such, I find that using the Echo or Yuki setting works great.
Next, tap the icon in the lower left to select your backdrop:

You can even upload your own backdrops!

Now use the slider to adjust how the backdrop and subject of the photo look:(The green star is the slider)

Now just tap the camera to take your picture! To save it, tap the icon in the upper right corner:

It’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it!

This app works best with dolls or other toys with clear, distinct faces.

Another important thing to note is that if your doll is wearing anything green, their outfit will blend into the green-screen.

Here are some examples of photos I’ve gotten with the Snapstar app and my home-made green-screen:

The only complaint I have is that it's a little hard to get a perfect shot, but I'm sure it just requires a little practice!

I hope you all have fun with this less than $1 toy photography hack!
